Personnel Development at Berner

Charting the course for success by management objectives.
At the start of our fiscal year (from April to March the following year) you and your supervisor will have an employee review – that we call the Management by Objectives (MbO) review.

  • In this review you and your boss evaluate together to what extent you have achieved the targets agreed in the previous year.
  • You agree targets for the coming year, based on the strategic goals of the combined Berner Group.
  • And you discuss your own personal goals. Where can you develop yourself in the combined Berner Group, what stepping stones and qualifications are needed to achieve these? All answers to these questions will be documented on the MbO form. The implementation of the agreed training activities – e.g. in-house and external seminars, self-study programs, coaching, directed project work, etc. – is then put quickly into action.

Development in international positions or in management
If you wish to progress internationally, or if you are aiming at a career in management – and we believe you have what it takes – we will include you in our Berner Talent Pool nextStep.

Together we will work out a personal development plan for you. We will also define the direction in which your management career will develop, for example in sales, controlling, finance and accounting, marketing and product management, purchasing, logistics, etc. And we′ll discuss international assignments that are possible in nearly every European country. Of course, we will support you on your journey. And we will agree on any necessary qualifications. For these we cooperate with business schools and other external institutions. Or we will enable you to gain appropriate hands-on experience – on the job or through managing internal projects. Every year we reassess whether the agreed development steps and actions are still appropriate – or if they need to be reconsidered or enhanced.
